Team Up for Hope awarded grant from the Warwick Valley Rotary Club

On Friday, May 7, Edward Lynch, President of the Warwick Valley Rotary Club, and Wayne Patterson, a member of both the WV Rotary Club and Team Up for Hope, presented a check to Team Up for Hope’s founder, Geoff Green. Green thanked them, saying: “I am truly grateful for this donation by the Warwick Rotary Club, as the cause which Team Up for Hope represents is near and dear to my heart. To have my friends and colleagues of the Warwick Rotary supporting Team Up for Hope means the world to me. Thank you to all!” Team Up for Hope supports local non-profit organizations which are at the forefront of mental health and drug use challenges within our communities. TUH raises funds for these volunteer organizations, as well as awareness of the issues, resources, and support available, through a series of webinars. We are teaming up for hope with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) affiliate chapters in Orange County NY and Sussex County NJ. Through the generosity of corporate sponsors, as well as individual donors, we have been able to donate to each of these chapters a total of $3,750 since December 2020. In addition, Team Up for Hope provided a grant to local Warwick artist, photographer, and mental health advocate, Daniel McQuade for his project on mental illness. Team Up for Hope works with experts from local organizations as well as individuals who have expertise in meeting the challenges of mental health, drug use, and suicide prevention, to present its webinars. As we expand our network, we also expand the organizations we can help. Our corporate sponsors at the Diamond Level ($1,000) include Green Team Realty; Keren Gonen Real Estate; Amy Green, Guaranteed Rate; and Mortgage Unlimited. Our Platinum Level ($500) sponsor is NuOp.

Our next webinar will take place on Thursday evening, May 20, at 7 p.m. Entitled “Light at the End of the Tunnel.” The panel of experts will be discussing the importance of exercise, mindfulness, and nutrition as part of a holistic approach to mental health. Visit Team Up for Hope on Facebook and at our website, teamupforhope.org. The Board of Directors of NAMI Orange County NY had this to say about Team Up for Hope: "Who would have thought that it would take an organization such as Team Up for Hope to pick up the slack left by the closing of hospitals dedicated solely for the treatment of mental wellness in New York State and, specifically, Orange County, NY? Last year's and this year's very generous donations from your organization have enabled NAMI Orange County, NY to provide much-needed assistance to the people living with mental wellness issues. With Team Up for Hope's financial assistance, NAMI Orange County, NY has been able to give people experiencing mental health challenges and their families in our community free support throughout the year..." Annie Glynn, President & Jerilyn Doherty, Treasurer, NAMI Sussex shared the following with us: "We are amazed by Team Up for Hope's energy and enthusiasm for raising awareness about mental health and encouraging members of the community to contribute funds to support the work of a small, all-volunteer, non-profit organization like NAMI Sussex. As an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI Sussex provides free support, education, and advocacy throughout the Sussex County, New Jersey area on behalf of individuals and families affected by mental illness. We have never before had a community partner fundraise to such an extent on our behalf, and we are truly grateful and humbled."
